SOCAN and Festival d’été international de Québec Reach Agreement on Licensing Fees

Wednesday, January 14, 2026

Toronto/Québec City, January 12, 2026, SOCAN and the Festival d’été international de Québec (FEIQ) are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement resolving their outstanding dispute over licensing fees for the years 2022–2025. Consequently, SOCAN has discontinued its litigation against FEIQ and Bleufeu.

The agreement reinforces a shared commitment to ensuring that music creators and publishers are fairly compensated. It also acknowledges the essential role that songwriters and composers play in shaping live music experiences and the vitality of musical experiences presented to the public.

“Fair compensation is fundamental to a healthy live music sector. When every contributor’s work is recognized and valued, the entire industry becomes stronger and more sustainable,” said SOCAN CEO Jennifer Brown.

“We have always placed artists and musical creation at the heart of our approach. The dialogue with SOCAN has allowed us to find common ground. We are now looking ahead, committed to continuing our contribution to a strong and dynamic music ecosystem,” adds Nicolas Racine, CEO of BLEUFEU and FEIQ
