Montréal, QC – December 11, 2025 – SOCAN announced today the promotion of Alexandre Alonso to Vice President, Québec and Francophone Affairs. This strategic appointment reinforces SOCAN’s member-centric vision, advancing its ability to meet the needs of its francophone community in Québec, across Canada, and internationally.

“Alexandre Alonso’s more than 15 years of experience in the Québec music industry and his work at SOCAN make him well-suited to lead our strategy to meet the unique and diverse needs of our francophone members,” said SOCAN CEO Jennifer Brown. “Under his leadership, SOCAN will continue to innovate and elevate our services for francophone members across Canada and internationally.”

Alonso most recently served as SOCAN’s Executive Director, Québec Affairs, since 2023. During this time, he strengthened the organization’s Québec Affairs mandate by building strong relationships with members, industry leaders, associations, and government partners. His work has been key in addressing important issues, and reinforcing SOCAN’s commitment to Québec’s music ecosystem.

“I’m looking forward to supporting Québec and francophone songwriters, composers, and publishers, and fostering meaningful partnerships across the music industry. My priority remains helping Québec and francophone members wherever they are, in Canada and abroad, providing the tools, advocacy, and opportunities they need to succeed in the global music landscape. This is the natural progression of our commitment to being member-centric,” said Alonso.

Prior to joining SOCAN, Alonso served as Executive Director at the Société professionnelle des auteurs et compositeurs du Québec (SPACQ). Earlier in his career, he served as Labour Relations Counsellor for the Union des artistes, and as Communications & Member Relations Manager for Artisti, a neighbouring rights collective.

Alonso will officially assume his role as Vice President, Québec and Francophone Affairs, effective January 1, 2026.
