Marie-Philippe Bergeron

Song – "Comme la roue" - Now playing...

Originally from Petit-Rocher, N.B., Marie-Philippe Bergeron started writing songs in 2006 and won the Gala de la chanson de Caraquet’s best singer-songwriter award the very same year, for her naïve yet lucid lyrics and her luminous stage presence.

After undergoing intensive songwriter training at École nationale de la chanson in Granby, Que., in 2007-2008, Bergeron spent a period of three months performing stage and radio shows in the region of Brittany in Northern France.

The event that truly launched her career was the 2009 FrancoFête en Acadie festival in Moncton, where she won both the prestigious Rideau Prize and the Acadie-Granby Award. In 2010, she was named Discovery of the Year at the Soirée des Prix Éloizes, an Eastern Canadian awards ceremony recognizing Francophone talent in six major arts disciplines.

Later that year, besides her scheduled shows in Atlantic Canada, Bergeron took part in the Festival de la chanson de Tadoussac and Petite-Vallée’s Rencontres qui chantent. She also and recorded her first album, Le complexe du gémeau, with Éloi Painchaud as a backing musician and producer. Released in October 2010, this first opus features additional musical contributions by Antoine Gratton, Tim Rideout, Jordan Officer and Pierre-Philippe Côté, and 12 original songs with catchy tunes and thoughtful lyrics.
