Marc-André Blais (a.k.a. Jervais)

Song – "Sundé" - Now playing...

In 2004, Marc-André Blais self-produced Sundé, his début 10-song album. Actively involved as a musician in a number of talent contests, he gained valuable stage experience and became known for his original songs and strong improvisational style, landing his first professional record deal with ISBA Music in 2006. That same year, under the name of Jervais, he entered the studio to record Le Psy with Maxime Lalanne on drums, Patrick Lavergne on bass, Denis Faucher on keyboards and himself on guitar and voices, along with Ghyslain-Luc Lavigne as recording engineer and Dan Volj as producer and arranger. Released on the ISBA label in May 2007, Le Psy found major success on radio, making it to the “6 à 6” rotation of CKOI Radio in Montreal and reaching No. 2 in the Francophone Top 10.

In his subsequent appearances in various venues and festivals, Jervais shared the stage with or opened shows for such well-established artists as the group Loco Locass, Jonathan Painchaud, Michel Rivard and Marie-Mai.

While completing a promotional tour for Le Psy in 2007, Jervais released his first music video, for the album’s fourth single, “J’aime tout le monde” (“I Love Everybody”). In 2009, he gave his fans a musical Christmas gift in the form of a self-produced and edited rock video version of the classic “Au royaume du bonhomme hiver” (“Winter Wonderland”). Meanwhile, he continued to perform solo concerts throughout Quebec, and created the new concert agency MAB Booking.

In 2010, after leaving ISBA, Jervais started looking for a record label for his new songs and, with the help of Maude Lemire-Comeau, his agent, obtained a Musicaction grant for the production and promotion of four digital titles. Once again, he retired into Dan Volj’s studio with his musicians, joined this time by high-profile contributions from Daniel Bibeau, Guy Tourville, Le Bureau de Marilou David and Distribution Select (Select Digital).

A new Jervais project is due for release later this year with the artist as artistic and creative director. The remainder of 2011 promises to be a busy time for Jervais with the redesign of his website, the booking of his own shows, the release of a new five-song digital EP, the release of a new music video, and numerous live concerts.
