Karim Ouellet

Song – "Le Monstre" - Now playing...

Born in Dakar, Senegal, into a travelling family, Karim Ouellet spent parts of his formative years growing up in Canada, Senegal, France, Rwanda and Tunisia before settling in Quebec. A versatile and hands-on musician, Ouellet recently released his first solo album, Plume, which he wrote, composed, mixed, arranged and produced (with Claude Bégin and Thomas Gagnon-Coupal). It's an eclectic collection of pop songs spanning reggae, progressive rock, electro and folk.

A 2009 Festival de la Chanson de Granby finalist, Ouellet qualified for the finals of the 2011 Francouvertes competition, placing second and winning several prizes, and performed at such international music festivals as Francofolies de La Rochelle and Bordeaux’s Francoville in France, and SXSW in Austin, Texas. Before embarking on a solo career, Ouellet took part in extensive Quebec and international tours as a close collaborator with the hip-hop group CEA and a member of the Movezèrbe collective.
