Ce processus, rendu obligatoire par le biais d\u2019un amendement \u00e0 la Loi en 2012, repr\u00e9sente un moment crucial pour les auteurs, compositeurs et \u00e9diteurs de musique.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0La loi canadienne sur le droit d\u2019auteur tra\u00eene de la patte derri\u00e8re celles en vigueur dans les autres pays du G7, et j\u2019esp\u00e8re que cet examen repr\u00e9sentera pour le Canada une occasion de devenir un leader au chapitre du droit d\u2019auteur comme c\u2019est le cas dans d\u2019autres secteurs\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le chef de la direction de la SOCAN, Eric Baptiste. \u00ab\u00a0Dans notre secteur en bouleversement, particuli\u00e8rement avec l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de nouvelles fa\u00e7ons de consommer et d\u2019\u00e9couter de la musique, nous avons besoin, plus que jamais, d\u2019une protection robuste du droit d\u2019auteur afin de nous assurer que les cr\u00e9ateurs et \u00e9diteurs de musique sont pay\u00e9s \u00e9quitablement pour leur travail.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>La SOCAN est la plus importante organisation du domaine musical au Canada, et ses actions aupr\u00e8s de son effectif de membres et d\u2019organisations d\u00e9tentrices d\u2019une licence musicale ont un impact sur plus d\u2019un quart de million d\u2019entrepreneurs ind\u00e9pendants et de PME.
