Sixteen SOCAN TV music composers nominated for 2010 Gémeaux Awards

The nominees for the 25th Anniversary Gémeaux Awards, celebrating excellence in Quebec television, were unveiled June 17, 2010. They include the following SOCAN members:

Best Original Music Score for a Dramatic Program
   • Denis Chartrand, Pierre-Yves Drapeau, Normand Roger – Le printemps de Mélie
   • Serge Côté – Météo+ “Des silos et des hommes”
   • FM Le Sieur – Musée Eden “Episode 4”
   • Éloi Painchaud – Ni plus ni moi “Episode 4”
   • Mark Giannetti – Providence “Episode 127”

Best Original Music Score for a Documentary Program
   • Tim Rideout – À la rencontre de l'homme qui brûle
   • Catherine Major – Gratien Gélinas, un géant aux pieds d’argile
   • Olivier Auriol – Les vrais gagnants
   • Claude Fournier – Naufrages
   • Robert Marcel Lepage – Sous la cagoule, un voyage au bout de la torture

Best Musical Theme – all categories
   • Christian Clermont – Aveux “Episode 12”
   • Ramachandra Borcar – Comme par magie “La gravité”
   • FM Le Sieur – Musée Eden “Episode 4”
   • Jean-Philippe Goncalves, Alex McMahon – Urbania/Le Québec en 12 lieux “Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré”

The awards presentation will be staged over two days. On Thursday, Sept. 16, 32 awards, including all music categories,, will be presented as part of the Crafts and Documentary Evening Banquet. The main award ceremony will take place on Sunday, Sept. 19, hosted by Quebec superstar Véronique Cloutier and broadcast by Radio-Canada.
