SOCAN Members save 10% on all Berklee online courses; free songwriting handbook also available

In addition to a 10% discount on * all courses and programs at www.berkleemusic.com, the online extension school of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, SOCAN members can now sign up to receive a free PDF, The Songwriting Handbook. The PDF includes songwriting tips and techniques from some of Berkleemusic's songwriting faculty, like Pat Pattison, Jimmy Kachulis, Ben Newhouse, Brad Hatfield, and Andrea Stolpe. Topics include music harmony, melody, writing hit songs, song licensing, avoiding writer's block, and more. Download the handbook here. It's free with registration on the Berkleemusic site; there's no need to register for a course.

Berkleemusic has also launched a new online course in music licensing, explaining the nuts-and-bolts behind music monetization, and how licensing is the touchstone to generating revenue for artists, songwriters, labels, and music publishers. To see how Berklee online courses work, visit one of its YouTube "Open House" webcasts, this one on lyric writing.
